Stop the Bleed Course
Mutual Aid Ambulance Service`s education department provides non-medical responder Stop The Bleed training. The Stop The Bleed program incorporates the identification and treatment for life threatening bleeding including:
- Bystander and rescuer safety
- Recognition of bleeding emergencies
- Bleeding control prior to rescuer arrival
- Wound treatment and tourniquet use
The training program is approximately two hours and incorporates a lecture presentation as well as hands on instruction. This program is not a certification course, but is designed to raise awareness and promote bystander and layperson bleeding control in an emergency prior to the arrival of professional rescuers. Attendees completing the training will receive a course completion document recognizing their attendance in the Stop The Bleed program, as well as a personal CAT tourniquet.
